A crash in Toronto yesterday where a truck crashed into a condo involved an Owen Sound Council member.
Councillor Jim McManaman missed last night’s meeting after being involved in the spectacular crash on Yonge Street near Highway 401.
McManaman tells Beach News he was returning home from work around 7:30 in the morning when a dump truck collided into the back of his vehicle while it was stalled on the side of the road.
The truck then hit a light post, went through a chain linked fence and started to roll down an embankment into the condo.
The driver of the truck jumped from the vehicle before it rolled backwards.
A woman inside the condo was thrown from her bed when the truck slammed through her apartment.
The 32 year old woman was taken to hospital for minor injuries.
Police are still investigating why the crash occurred.
McManaman — a Toronto firefighter — says he is a bit shaken up, and is thankful no one was seriously injured.
The back end of his vehicle sustained major damage.
