The fall session of the provincial legislature begins today.
The Conservative caucus at Queens Park looks a little different as Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch sits as an independent for the first time in 18 years.
Murdoch was kicked out of the party last week over his comments about party leader John Tory to Bayshore Broadcasting News.
Murdoch says he will serve his riding as a “independent Conservative.”
Murdoch says he has no intentions of crossing the floor to another party — but he will explain his comments about John Tory if he is invited to speak.
Simcoe Grey Conservative MPP Jim Wilson is not commenting on the Murdoch affair.
Instead he wants to focus on parliament.
Wilson feels jobs, health care, and long term care will be the priorities in this session of Parliament.
Wilson says Premier Dalton McGuinty should have brought Parliament back into session earlier to deal with the weakening economy.
Wilson says he’s thinking of presenting a private member’s bill on long term care.
He says he wants to see another 20-thousand nursing home beds in Ontario.
