It’s time for the 14th annual Canadian Big Band Celebration.
On Soundingboard musician and committee member Charlie Bell says the event has become one of the largest in Canada.
Bell says it looks like it will be a great turnout for the music and dancing again this year.
He says things get underway tonight with Friday Night Jazz sponsored by 98 the Beach.
Bell says a record high 11 restaurants and other venues will be showcasing a musical group, representing the different genres of jazz.
He says for $15, patrons will be able to get in to all 11 venues throughout the evening and a shuttle bus will provide the transportation.
On Saturday afternoon and evening, it’s two editions of the Big Event, featuring four different big bands including the Stardust Big Band from Saugeen Shores and the Lighthouse Swing Band from Kincardine.
At the Big Event special guest star and emcee is Canadian songtress and actress Dinah Christie.
The afternoon event begins at 1:30 at the CAW Family Education Centre Assembly Hall while the evening performances begin at 7:30.
The celebration wraps up on Sunday with a Sunday Jazz Brunch beginning at 11am, featuring the songs of Dinah Christie.
Tickets for all events are available at the Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce and entry to the Friday Night Jazz performances can be purchased as well at the various venues.
