A stakeholder’s meeting is now set to discuss the future of the Kincardine Hospital.
Council spent part of last night’s meeting going over the format of the special meeting and to come up with questions that are to be asked.
The meeting was suggested by Councillor Ron Hewitt in the wake of the hospital losing its publicly-funded out-patient physiotherapy service over the summer.
The format includes a ten minute presentation by a spokesperson from each invited group.
Hewitt says he is satisfied with the format and hopes they can come up with some answers.
Hewitt hopes the meeting will result in some direction from the stakeholders.
He says he would like to see from them what they would like from the hospital and what can be achieved.
Some of the questions to be asked at the meeting include: how to facilitate better communications between the South Bruce Grey Health Centre and all stakeholders, what is the role of the Municipality in healthcare, and with the addition of the clinic is hospital expansion underway?
But one question that seems to be coming back is the one about de-malgamating from the SBGHC.
Hewitt says he would like to know how the Kincardine Hospital amalgamated with Chesley, Walkerton, and Durham hospitals.
He says wants to know what were the advantages of amalgamation at the time and does it exist today.
The scheduled 3-hour meeting is set to go on October 31st at 1 P.M. at the Kincardine Municipal Offices.
