Chairman of the club, Peter Van Dolder says costs continue to climb 3-4 % a year and revenue simply isn’t keeping pace.
Van Dolder says if they cannot find 5% in expenses to cut, along with some way of generating 5 % more revenue this year they simply won’t hold the races.
The Canadian snowcross Racing association has set January 17th and 18th for the Owen Sound race.
Peter Van Dolder says they operate on a budget of 50 thousand dollars with most of that money going to the Snowcross racing association to attract drivers and provide prizing.
Van Dolder is hopefull the event will still take place, saying it is one of the top events in the city that draws tourists to Owen Sound.
The Georgian Cup began as an ice racing event nearly 40 years ago and switched to snowcross 5 years ago.
