There are some changes to the opening parade of the 2008 International Plowing Match at Teeswater.
Due to the muddy conditions from the weekend rain, the parade this morning will only include dignitaries and the Queens of the Furrow.
It will still start at 10 AM.
The opening ceremonies will still be held at 11:30 AM.
Organizers hope to have a full parade Saturday morning instead.
Otherwise — IPM Official Cheryl Leifso says they are ready to open their gates at 8:30 this morning to welcome tens of thousands of visitors over the next four days.
Leifso says the IPM always attracts a lot of special visitors — and Premier Dalton McGuinty and Conservative Leader John Tory are scheduled to pay a visit today.
The IPM will also get a visit from Ontario’s Lieutenant Governor David Onley tomorrow.
He will first tour the site, then appear on the main stage around 11.45 AM.
Liefso says with the Federal Election campaign underway, there is no doubt a lot of politicians seek election will pay a visit to campaign on site.
She says of course the main attraction at the IPM are the displays and activities including the antique show and the square dancing tractor display.
In all there will be displays from 650 exhibitors that will cover just about every aspect of rural life or farming.
