The original application to build the new hydro corridor was filed at the end of March 2007, with an amendment made in November of that year.
There has been much controversy surrounding the line.
Landowners in Hanover and West Grey believe the new line will devalue their farm properties, and create negative environmental and health impacts.
There were also issues surrounding land being used owned by the Saugeen Ojibway Nation.
But in their report, the Ontario Energy Board says they believe the corridor is required to meet energy demands in the Toronto area – Ontario’s biggest user of electricity.
The Board also says the project is in the public interest, as it will have a positive impact on the price, reliability and quality of electricity services for customers.
An environmental assessment must be done first by the Ministry of Environment.
After Hydro One gets the approval, they expect to have the line built and in service by 2011.
