The wet weather didnt damper the enthusiasm of the grand opening of the Western Ontario Athletic Associations new head office.
Over 75 people — including current and former staff, dignitaries, and distinguished guests — came yesterday to officially christen the new building on Alfred Street West in Wingham.
President Dave Black says the building took four months to construct and opened back in November of 2007.
He says it is great to see people both young and old come for the ribbon cutting ceremony and the unveiling of the donor wall.
He says they also got the opportunity to get a first hand look at the facility and meet with the people who are involved in the sports programs
Black says the WOAA has been around since 1942.
He says the organization has a great past and hopes to make new history with the new building.
Black says the original fundraising goal for the project was 347 thousand dollars but they shattered that mark earlier this year.
He says much of that is through the support of the communities, individuals, and corporations that the WOAA serves.
