Bruce Grey Owen Sound MPP Bill Murdoch, has been suspended by the Conservative Party.
The move follows comments made by Murdoch that it’s time for Leader John Tory to step down.
In a release, caucus chairman Frank Klees says the decision was made unanimously by the caucus leadership.
Klees says Murdoch will be offered a chance to rejoin the party if he changes his ways.
Murdoch says he was told of the decision by the party and Tory last night but is unclear where that leaves him.
He expects to sit as Independent but is waiting for the party to call him and clarify his status.
Murdoch says he will show up at the legislature when it resumes on September 22nd and if his seat is in the corner he’s an Independent.
The outspoken politician has long been a thorn in the party’s side.
He was the first elected Conservative to publicly criticize Tory’s doomed election promise to fund faith based schools in Ontario.
