Hanover residents will get a chance to comment on the conceptual design of their new arena complex this evening.
Councillor Bob White is the Chair of the Project Management Committee and says this project has been in the planning stages for almost two years and this meeting will give residents one more chance to comment on the building before the final design is developed.
He says there is no question that the aging old Coliseum has to be replaced and municipal officials want to make sure the new building meets the multi use needs of the community.
White says the new facility will have a larger NHL regulation ice surface along with state of the art change rooms.
He says the new coliseum also will feature an indoor a walking track and a meeting room large enough to accommodate 150 people.
White says they have applied for several provincial and federal grants to help pay for the project which he hopes will be approved by next march.
He says once that money is available construction on the complex could begin almost immediately
White says two years ago the estimated cost of the new coliseum was around 7 or 8 million dollars, but now a better estimate would be in the 10 million dollar range.
The public meeting dealing with the proposed new coliseum takes place this evening at 7 PM at the old Coliseum auditorium.
