There will be a third candidate in the federal election in Huron-Bruce by tonight.
The New Democrats will nominate their candidate to run against Conservative Ben Lobb and Greg McClinchey of the Liberal Party.
NDP Riding Association President Wilhelmina Laurie expects no opposition to Tony McQuayle.
Laurie says all of the required paperwork has been completed and no other potential nominees have been heard from so it’s likely McQuayle will be acclaimed.
Laurie says the New Democrats will be targeting the leadership style of Prime Minister Harper.
She says in trying to achieve a majority in the October 14th election, the Conservatives will try to craft policy that fits with their political philsophy instead of what’s good for Canadians.
Laurie says McQuayle and the NDP nationally are keying on traditional New Democrat issues and items of current importance.
She says some of the old-line New Democrat issues like the environment and health care are strong platform planks.
The economy and more funding for infrastructure maintenance and renewal are other issues on which they’ll be campaigning.
The Huron-Bruce NDP nomination will be held at the former Lucknow Town Hall building on Highway 86 at 7:30 tonight.
