The housing market continues to boom in Saugeen Shores.
Evidence of that is in south Port Elgin where a 3.5-million-dollar 30-unit townhouse development began in May of this year.
Developer Tom Kerr of Tom Kerr Heating and Air Conditioning Limited of Listowel says the units are set up to rental units catering to the seniors market.
However Kerr says the rental agents are finding that Bruce Power workers are scooping them up.
So far, four units on Ray Street, near the Faith Lutheran Church have been completed and Kerr says they hope to complete the rest by mid-November.
The units are 850-square feet all on one floor with two bedrooms, laundry facilities and a kitchen, dining, living area.
Kerr says the bulk of his developing of these units has been concentrated in the Port Elgin area however he has similar developments elsewhere.
He hopes to begin on a six unit townhouse in Kincardine, along with a 12 unit facility in Tiverton and another six unit townhouse in Listowel.
