The Chair of the Cow Calf Committee of the Ontario Cattleman’s Association is optimistic for the future of the cattle industry.
Matt Bowman says its been a long tough road over the last couple of years but he says things are looking up.
Bowman says the main issues the industry has been dealing has been feed prices and the BSE crisis which has made things tough.
Bowman says a most a recent issue facing the industry is the canadian dollar being on par with the American dollar.
Bowman says its a 40 per cent difference from three years ago on what producers are receiving.
Bowman says even though it’s into the early stages of the federal election, he doesn’ t think there is one party that really help the industry.
Bowman adds looking to the future says there is alot of opportunties with branded products and the promotion of locally produced food.
