You will soon have another place to get your morning coffee in Owen Sound; another Tim Horton’s location.
Council voted 7-1 in favour of constructing a Drive Thru restaurant at the corner of 10th Street West and 7th Avenue West — at the old Harvey’s and Swiss Chalet.
Deb Haswell was the only Councillor who opposed the plan.
She argues a drive thru would have a negative impact on the neighbourhood, and the environment.
Haswell feels that in the future, the city should look at banning Drive-Thru’s altogether.
The TDL Group Corporation will begin construction in September and hopes to have the store up and running by December.
Planning Manager Maurice Luchich presented the site plan to Council last night.
He claims there is a great demand in the area.
Luchich adds all the other locations in Owen Sound will remain open.
There are already five Tim Horton’s locations in Owen Sound.
The 300 square foot store will feature a new design with 60 seats and extra washrooms.
