South Bruce O-p-p say the man ran into the water at Station Beach last night around 7pm when his daughter was having difficulty swimming.
When the father started having his own problems, others on the beach tried to assist.
Police say they were able to rescue the 13 year old girl, but not the father.
Michael Hancock was pronounced dead at Kincardine hospital.
