There will be a new home for seniors in Mildmay.
Lamplighter Estates is developing a 16-unit complex that will be spread out over a 6-acre parcel of land.
South Bruce Mayor Bill Goetz says the new units will be an asset to the village.
He says there are a number of seniors who are leaving because of the lack of seniors homes in the area and hopes this project will eleviate that.
Goetz says the Municipality held a public meeting on the topic of seniors homes and at least 32 people showed interest by putting their name down on a waiting list.
He says if all the units are filled they might have to consider building more down the road.
The developer will be maintaining the property once it is complete.
Goetz says the Municipality turned the land over to a private construction company and will have no control over the operation of the seniors home.
Goetz expects the new homes will be ready by the end of the year.
