The Canadian Paraplegic Association Ontario held their 3rd annual Wheelchair Relay Challenge yesterday.
Event Co-ordinator Jackie Bloom says they had 11 teams of five participate in a relay course, which included some obstacles.
The teams are raising money, and it all goes back to services for people with spinal cord injuries and other disabilities in Grey-Bruce.
Bloom says over the past two years they’ve raised 45 thousand dollars, and they’re looking to break through the 60 thousand dollar mark this year.
She says mid-day.. they looked well on their way to their 20 thousand dollar goal.
Steve CharronĀ participated as the captain of the Army Rollers from Meaford.
He says they’ve been taking part for all three years now because it’s a great way to support the local community.
Charron says they’ve also had some friends in the military lose the use of their legs, and sitting in the chair puts it in perspective for them.
The race included teams from local businesses and politicians.
