Owen Sound and area motorists are in for a bit of commuter hell for the next few weeks.
The resurfacing of 10th St west from 1st Avenue east to 4th Avenue west gets underway bright and early beginning at 6 and will continue until 9 p.m for the next three weeks.
Peter Paquette of Owen Sound Engineering Services says the work will see the complete removal and replacement of the asphalt roadway.
He says as a result of the pavement grinding work, there will only be two lanes of traffic open, one in each direction.
In addition, Paquette says there will be some road closures at the intersections and laneways as the road work continues.
He says detour signs will be set up to try and re direct most of the traffic away from the construction site, but admits traffic ties ups and delays are going to be inevitable.
Paquette says the total cost of the project is about 650 thousand dollars, part of which came from the MTO as 10th st. west is a connecting highway link.
