Federal New Democratic Party Leader Jack Layton says he can win the job of prime minister and may borrow from Barack Obama’s playbook in his attempt to make it happen.
Layton says he’s been listening Obama’s campaign in the U-S and says Canada is in a similar situation — ready for change.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Harper will meet with the Governor General at 9am, and ask her to desolve parliament and call an election.
In an exclusive interview with Bayshore Broadcasting news the NDP leader claims Prime minister Stephen Harper is quitting his job and Layton wants to replace him.
He also says the Conservatives can’t be trusted and an example of that is the Prime Minister forcing an election despite having set a fix date for a vote next Fall.
The Federal NDP leader says there are several issues in the campaign including wait times which he says Prime Minister Harper promised to addressed, but failed to deliver on.
In Bruce Grey Owen Sound, the NDP candidate is Jill McIlwraith.
Layton says being a nurse… she is well qualified to address the local issues related to health care.
Other issues he says include the struggling economy, and the environment.
