A Southampton mother is looking to the community for help for her seven year old daughter.
Eugenie Forsyth is developmentally delayed and is afflicted with a seizure disorder.
But the young Southampton girl has made great strides in the last two and a half years after attending “Ability Camp”, just outside of Picton.
It’s a camp that focuses on Conductive Education — where kids learn to be more independent.
Eugenie can now sit balanced on a chair, when before, she would just fall off.
She can now walk with a k-walker and she has also learned to grasp things while improving her motor skills, strength and stamina.
Her mother, Angela Richard, would like to send her daughter back to the camp for 10 weeks starting in October.
She says the development of her daughter has brought tears to her eyes.
But Richard needs over 17 thousand dollars to send Eugenie to the camp.
The Saugeen Shores community helped raise that money last year and Richard hopes local residents, groups and businesses will help again this year.
There is a special fundraising dance at the Lakeshore Recreation Centre in Port Elgin tonight with a number of local bands and tickets are 15 dollars each.
There is also the second annual “Go Eugenie Go” golf tournament at Chippewa Golf and Country Club on September 20th.
The cost to register is 90 dollars and that includes golf, cart and dinner.
Richard has also posted her daughter’s story with more information on a website at www.goeugeniego.com
