Ontario Environment Minister John Gerritsen has said no to a meeting with Georgain Bluffs.
The townships’ council was hoping to meet with Minster Gerritsen to discuss recontouring the township’s landfill site.
Currently, the site has about three more years left in it, and recontouring it would extend the life for a few years beyond that.
Mayor Alan Barfoot says the letter they received from Minister Gerritsen says he would like the township to work the issue out with the local Ministry groups in Owen Sound and London.
Barfoot says it’s dissapointing news because any decision made on the issue has to have the Minster sign off on it.
Barfoot says they will now set up meetings with the local Ministry groups and hopefully will get their support on this project.
