Kincardine is getting a share of the money the province is doling out to municipalities.
It was announced over at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference in Ottawa last week that 721 thousand dollars is coming to the Municipality.
Mayor Larry Kraemer relayed that announcement at the end of last night’s Council meeting.
Kraemer says the money is aimed at capital projects but is not strictly for public works.
He says the money can go towards recreation and arts but there will be some that will be used towards road, water, and sewer projects.
Kraemer says Council hasn’t discussed where the money will go since this is the first Council meeting since the AMO conference.
But he says there will no doubt be proposals coming forward by departments to get some of that funding.
Kraemer says with the additional funding coming from the province, that can free up money in their budgets for other things.
