The federal election that apparently nobody wants is about to be announced.
Political pundits says it looks like Tuesday, October 14th will be election day across Canada.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound Conservative MP Larry Miller, puts the blame squarely in the lap of federal Liberal leader Stephane Dion.
Miller tells John Divinski on Soundingboard if there had been an agreement between Dion and Prime Minister Stephen Harper at their weekend meeting, there would be no election.
He says that didn’t happen and that’s why we’re going to the polls.
Miller says to call the election before parliament resumes will save the Canadian taxpayer hundreds of thousands of dollars.
His reasoning is if an election is called now, MP’s will not have to make that trek to Ottawa where the government would likely fall anyway through a non-confidence vote.
Miller says this way that travel expense is being eliminated.
Miller also believes that an election at this time has been Stephane Dion’s plan all along.
He says for whatever reason, he thinks Dion believes an election parallel to the one coming up in the U. S. is good strategy.
Miller couldn’t shed any more light on that conjecture.
Miller says he doesn’t want an election and he believes most Canadians don’t want an election either but the blame lies squarely with the Liberals–not the Conservatives.
