Amber Mackie was chosen over three others on Friday at the Bruce County Plowmen’s Association Plowing Match at the farm of Jerry and Debbie Mackie south of Ferndale.
Mackie will compete for the Ontario Queen of the Furrow crown at the International Plowing Match & Rural Expo in Temiskaming in September 2009.
She was crowned by the outgoing 07/08 Bruce County Queen of the Furrow, Carrie Waugh.
Waugh will be competing for the Ontario title at the IPM in Teeswater later this month.
Meanwhile, the match itself was a success; about 275 people took in the roast beef lunch alone!
37 plowing competitors competed in the horse, tractor, and 4-H classes.
Prizes will be awarded in October.
