The Wiarton Habitat for Humanity build may be a year away but one of the first deadlines for families to meet is coming up.
Public relations chair for Habitat Brad Fishleigh says they’re looking for families who would qualify for one of the four semi-detached homes to be built next August.
Fishleigh says they have until Friday, September 5th to apply and fill out the necessary forms.
He says after that the board of directors will review all applicants and make their choices.
Fishleigh says the families have some conditions to meet.
They must be prepared to give back to Habitat some 500-hours of service either in the build or in some other capacity.
They must have a total family income of $43,000 or less and they must be able to make a monthly mortgage payment based on that income.
They must also reside in Bruce or Grey counties and must not have an existing mortgage or own property.
Fishleigh says now is the time for families to come forward to express their interest because the deadline is September 5th.
He says there have been several applications but more are being welcomed.
The builds will take place on Dawson Street and Watson Street in Wiarton.
The two builds will provide four one-thousand-square-foot semi-detached homes.
