That school has been named as one of the top 25 schools in Canada in the September issue of Today’s Parent Magazine.
Deputy Editor Jackie Kovacs says the school was nominated because of the outstanding effort of its Principal Dan Russell.
Kovacs says once they looked at all Russell has done for the students and staff, it was obvious the Dufferin Principal was passionate about education.
She says some of Russell’s initiatives include puppet shows for kindergarten students to teach them about friendship, to setting up Radio Dufferin in which the grade six students read the daily announcements.
In addition, Russell has gone out of his way to know the name of every student who attends the school.
Kovacs says Russell is a true team leader and efforts by him should be rewarded.
She says Principals are essentially the school team leaders and both students and staff are inspired by their enthusiasm.
