It’s a happy delegation from Saugeen Shores that’s attending the Association of Municipalities convention.
Mayor of Saugeen Shores Mike Smith says the local delegation did not request any one on one meetings with cabinet ministers from the provincial government this year.
Smith says they’re quite happy with the funding they have received recently for the various projects that have started in the area in the past year.
However Mayor Smith is also part of the Bruce County delegation and that body has requested several meeting of which two or three have been confirmed.
Smith says he is looking forward to the “bear pit” session on Tuesday to see what the Premier and cabinet ministers will have to say.
He’s hoping more light will be shed on the possible uploading of the Ontario Disability Pension Plan to the province.
Smith says lower tiered governments have been calling for just such a plan in the past.
Otherwise the local delegation will be attending education meetings dealing with environment, labour relations and doctor recruitment.
The AMO meeting gets underway now through Wednesday.
