The Chesley and District Chamber of Commerce is getting a new lease on life.
They’ve hired a brand new Project Co ordinator to conduct a business retention and employment survey.
Liz Adams says that’ll make up the bulk of her 9 month contract position but she’ll also be responsible for fundraising efforts for the Chamber as well as promotional activities.
The information collected from the survey will be used to update the town’s business directory and Chamber website.
It will also be presented to Arran Elderslie council to give them an idea of what local businesses need to thrive.
Adams hopes this is a new beginning for the Chesley Chamber after they were forced last year to lay off their manager and close the office as well as the Heritage and Woodworking museum in order to save money.
She says down the road she can see the Chamber office and museum open for tourists for a few hours on a Saturday in the summer.
Adams says the closure of Durham Furniture in Chesley was a huge blow to the community but there are already some signs of recovery with the opening of a new restaurant.
