Bruce County Council yesterday decided to rescind last June’s resolution that would see the bridge located on the 10th Concession in the former Brant Township be returned to the Municipality once it is replaced.
Bruce County Engineer Brian Knox says the County will resort back to a 2005 report that will see the County retain ownership of Naggs Bridge pending a study as to whether the 10th Concession should be turned into a County road.
He says it would have been awkward to replace the bridge and hand it over to the Municipality of Brockton when it hasn’t yet been decided on what to do with the road that it is on.
He also says they are not sure whether to go ahead and replace the bridge at all.
Knox says the 2005 report was passed by the County Council at the time.
He says the report recognized that there needed to be a realignment of jurisdiction for the 26 bridges in Bruce County.
The possible replacement of the bridge is expected to cost 3.6 million dollars with 3 million of that covered by the County.
