It’s time for the annual Southampton Art Society Annual General Meeting.
The Southampton Arts Society governs the Southampton Art School and the Southampton Art Gallery.
Acting Chair Gord Boyd says the society and the school is dedicated to the celebration of creativity and development of the talent of artists.
It has been around since 1957.
Boyd says they are holding the meeting, which is more of a social event from 5 PMĀ til 7 PM tonight.
Participating gallery artists and the general public are both invited.
Boyd says they really need to boost membership.
He says they only have 20 members right now; and would like to see at least 40.
Boyd says in the past, they focused more on financially surviving, and ignored the members.
He says in order to sustain membership, they have to change that.
Boyd says at the meeting, 4 people will be elected to the board, and a social will follow.
The cost to attend the meeting is fifteen dollars; it’s being held in the upper gallery of the art gallery.
