Owen Sound City Council approved a conditional site plan for a 753 square metre addition to the high school.
The addition will be located on the south side of the school and will include a number of new classrooms, a new entrance to the school, bike racks and solar-powered outdoor lighting.
City Council approved the intent to move forward with a designation of the 1891 portion of St. Mary’s under the Ontario Heritage Act.
City Council will have control of the 1891 portion of the school, as well as the exterior design features of the new building.
A barrier free parking space will also be added to comply with city zoning bylaws.
