While students enjoy the summer holiday, the principal at Holy Family School in Hanover has been busy.
Keith Walsh is gearing up for the experience of a lifetime.
The elementary school principal is leaving for China for a two year venture where he will serve as the principal of an international Chinese grade 7 to 12 high school
The Ontario curriculum is taught in this English speaking school, with many of its graduates coming to Ontario to pursue post secondary education.
Walsh admits leaving Canada for such a long period of time won’t be easy, but says he’s eager to take on the new challenge.
This is all part of the Bond International School program where principals and teachers have the chance to travel across the world to serve as educators in foreign lands.
Walsh says China’s rich history and culture are what attracted him to the position.
The international school is located in Shen Zhen, a city with a population of 8 million people.
It is located just north of Hong Kong near the South China Sea.
Walsh is confident the experience will provide him with many rich educational experiences and skills that he will be able to apply to his own school when he returns to Ontario.
Walsh is taking a two year leave of absence with the Bruce Grey Catholic School Board while he serves as principal in China.
