The First Impressions Community Exchange meeting presented some valuable insight.
Members of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs looked at Allenford, Sauble Beach, Hepworth and Wiarton to find out what kind of first impression they give tourists.
Barbara Burgess, Economic Development Consultant, says she loved all four towns at last night’s meeting.
Burgess says they all had strong assets in terms of natural beauty and vibrant communities.
The towns were rated on community entrances, housing, education, health, social and emergency services and the downtown core.
She says South Bruce Peninsula also has a lot to build on.
Burgess says areas like parking, walkways, benches and lighting could use some work, especially in Allenford.
Burgess says the first impressions program is invaluable because it allows towns to hear from outside visitors.
She says people who live here overlook their strengths and miss the good things it has to offer.
Mayor Gwen Gilbert says the committee gave council some great points to move ahead with.
About 20 residents of South Bruce Peninsula attended the meeting.
