The north end of the river will become more boater friendly.
Reconstruction on the mouth of the north end of the Sauble River is to begin shortly.
Mayor Gwen Gilbert says the excavation will allow safer passage for boats in and out of the river.
Councillor Mark Wunderlich says this is important to the boating community.
Wunderlich also believes the project will give an economic boost to Sauble.
He hopes it will attract more boats to the area because they will have a safer harbour.
About 37 thousand dollars will be spent on the under water rock breaking and excavation this year.
Hunter Haulage and Excavating of Lions Head has been hired to do the work.
