An Oshawa area man faces charges after fleeing from a RIDE check in Underwood.
South Bruce OPP officers asked the driver of a truck to pull over last Thursday night after smelling alcohol during a RIDE program on Highway 21.
But when the driver pulled over — he turned onto the 6th concession of Bruce Township and accelerated away.
Police gave chase and one officer was able to manoeuvre his cruiser ahead of the pickup and get the truck stopped.
A 45 year old man from Courtice (pronounced Curtis) was arrested and police say he blew one and a half times over the legal alcohol limit.
He has been charged with impaired driving and flight from police.
