The Federal Liberal Candidate for Huron Bruce is happy with a recent mayor’s meeting.
Greg McClinchey said some very positive dialogue came from the event.
He says the purpose of the meeting was to create a forum for the municipal leaders to express their problems and discuss what the federal government can do to help.
11 mayors from Huron Bruce and the Grey County Warden discussed four main topics.
McClinchey says they talked about how to reduce bureaucratic hurdles, long term funding arrangement for transferring dollars between the different levels and economic development.
One suggestion that was made, is that the mayors pick one specific issue at a time and tackle them line by line to solve the problems from the root of the issue.
McClinchey says he hopes the meetings will happen more often, whether it be from in person, e-mail of conference calls.
