Inspector Steve McKinnon says the victim is a city man.
The victim is identified as 46 year old Roger Smith of Owen Sound.
McKinnon says Smith was coming down Moores Hill Wednesday at a high rate of speed and lost control, going off the road and hitting a large rock on the east side of 2nd Avenue West.
Skid marks from the bike tires, and witnesses confirm Smith appeared to be going at a high rate of speed down the hill at the time of the accident.
He apparently bought the expensive bike a few months ago, and was getting into the sport of road racing or cycling.
Although there were vehicles around the scene at the time of the accident… none were involved and no charges were laid.
Inspector McKinnon says the investigation is concluded.
