Owen Sound Police probing a fatal bicycle crash that occurred around 6 last evening at the foot of Moore’s Hill.
Police Inspector Steve McKinnon says the cyclist was critically injured in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
He says their investigation is being hindered because the male cyclist was not carrying any identification.
McKinnon says the victim is described as a while male, about 40 years of age and was riding a high end type of bicycle.
An eyewitness at the scene says the cyclist was coming down Moore’s Hill at a high rate of speed and swerved to avoid a truck turning left onto 3rd Street A East.
The witness says the cyclist was standing on his bike as he pedaled down the hill.
She says the biker was in full cycling gear and was wearing a helmet.
The witness believes the cyclist had already died before emergency crews arrived.
She says the driver of the truck was unaware of the accident, but was flagged down by an onlooker and returned to the scene.
According to the eyewitness, many passersby stopped to help, people came out of their homes, and a bus carrying people also stopped to assist.
