Acting Captain Bob Bringleson says a clothes line at the back of 2530 7th avenue east was melted by the bolt of lightning.
The lightning travelled along the clothes line and blew apart a couple of joists on the back deck.
It scorched some of the siding before entering the house and causing some damage to the main floor, and blowing trim off the wall.
Bringleson says a neighbour also reported some damage from the lightning strike which affected his TV and computer.
No dollar figure has been put on the damage.
