The growing amount of entries to the 2008 International Plowing Match is prompting organizers to acquire more land.
Chair Jack Riley says an agreement has been reached with landowners to secure another 80 acres for the match bringing the total to a thousand.
He says not all of the 80 acres will be used but it will be there if they have to accommodate more entries.
Riley says the excitement is building with all the entries that are coming in.
He wouldn’t say how many more people will be participating.
Riley says the Ontario Plowmen’s Association is quite pleased with the way things are coming along.
The OPA is in charge with the operation of the event and according to Riley they are well ahead of where they were at the same time last year.
Riley believes that the quality of the rural area in Bruce County — along with neighbouring counties — is the reason there are more people entering.
The 2008 International Plowing Match goes from September 16th to the 21st in Teeswater.
