Are tired of those increasing cellphone payments?
Well if your not on a text messaging plan get ready for a new charge that may hit your wallet everytime you recieve a message.
Bell Mobility and Telus Communications have announced plans to charge customers 15 cents per incoming text message, with Bell introducing the charge on Aug. 8 and Telus on Aug. 24.
Bell Canada Spokesperson Jason Laszlo told Bayshore Broadcasting News that the change will not affect clients on text bundles in any way, only those who pay per use for individual text messages.
Laszlo says that 95% of text messages that are sent and received are by Bell clients on text plans.
As for the other 5% who do pay-per-use for text, Laszlo says they will see the $15 cent charge for inbound messages beginning in August.
This move may force costumers to buy text messaging bundles or pay the increase.
Both Bell and Telus are being served with another a class action lawsuit in Quebec over plans to charge customers for incoming text messages.
Eric Cormier, a Bell Mobility subscriber for the past decade, initiated the suit saying both companies are acting illegally by unilaterally changing the terms of cellular contracts with their clients.
Until now, incoming text messages have not been subject to charges.
