Co-organizer Frank Gardiner says it’s a family event of walking, jogging or running at your own pace.
Gardiner says they’re raising funds for children in Bruce and Huron Counties.
The money will go towards diabetes research at the Robarts Centre at the University of Western Ontario.
Gardiner admits they didn’t do much promotion of the event this year so they’re hoping everyone that can participate will do so.
He says it’s not necessary to raise pledges but that would be nice.
He says it’s more important that everyone get out and get some exercise and raise the awareness of diabetes in children.
Gardiner believes the disease is at epidemic proportions because of a lack of physical activity among children.
The Dash for Diabetes registration will begin at 7:30 Saturday morning with the event starting at eight at the north Port Albert parking lot.
The course is eight kilometres long but you can do as much or as little as you wish.
Last year they raised $5,500 with close to 50 participants.
This year they don’t know how many will show but they’re hoping to raise $3,000 in what is being called a year of transition.
Last year they event was held on Highway 21 between Goderich and Port Albert but the traffic was too heavy for a safe event.
