The numbers look good in Kincardine when it comes to building.
Kincardine Building and Planning Manager Michele Barr says they issued 174 permits in the first 6 months of this year, compared to 148 last year.
Barr says the total value ending June of 2008 was 23.2 million dollars; in 2007 it was 13.5 million.
Barr says a couple of reasons for the jump this year, focus around single detached dwellings, which jumped by 2 million dollars, and the creation of 5 wind turbines (5 million).
For the month of June alone, this year, permit values were at 5.8 million, while last year, they were at 2 million.
Barr says the reason for the increase surrounds around an institutional, a few commercial and municipal projects.
