Paid parking in Sauble Beach has taken a backseat once again at South Bruce Peninsula Council.
A motion from Councillor Mark Wunderlich to lower the paid parking fee on Lakeshore Boulevard to 2 dollars an hour was defeated at last night’s meeting.
Only Councillor Ana Vukovic supported Wunderlich’s idea.
Councillor Dan Kerr says he was opposed because there would be a four week process involved to reduce the paid parking.
Vukovic then put forward the motion to completely discontinue the paid parking for the rest of the 2008 season.
Vukovic also wanted to begin the 2009 summer season with a 5 dollar a day rate or 2 dollars per hour.
But that motion too was defeated by Council.
Wunderlich says he doesn’t feel defeated because he will introduce another motion at the next meeting to waive the paid parking on Sundays.
A summer Sauble Beach resident, Mimi Darby says she is shocked council hasn’t reduced the paid parking yet.
