That statement from Bruce Power’s Steve Cannon this morning, following weekend reports that a small radioactive ring was lost for two months before being reported.
Cannon says there was never any danger to workers on site.
He says the ring was exactly where it should have been and was only located again, after workers surveyed the area to put up some scaffolding.
Cannon says everyone followed correct procedures and he doesn’t expect any flak from the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.
He says CNSC personnel on site have already backed up the procedures and the way everything was handled.
Cannon says the issue the company has is with Atomic Energy of Canada Limited and their reporting practices so there isn’t a two month gap on events such as this.
He says it’s important that everyone be on the same page at the same time.
A small 10-centimeter radioactive ring went missing in April but wasn’t reported to Bruce Power until last month, after an employee came across it when it set off the alarm on his radiation monitor.
Cannon says no one was hurt and at no time was anyone in danger.
