There is a public meeting in Sauble Beach today as Bruce County looks at opening more land to ATV use.
The Bruce Peninsula ATV Club is hosting the meeting at 2 PM at the Sauble Beach Community Centre.
It will look at any concerns about ATV use on lands.
County Council recently adopted a draft plan that sets out rules and guidelines for new trails.
It is being developed by the Bruce Grey Trail Network.
Executive Director Ray Gilbert says they have already heard good comments from local ATV clubs and riders as well as residents and environmentalists.
Gilbert says the ATV clubs will have to consult with landowners and First Nations, agree to protect the environment and maintain the trails.
Gilbert feels this is a good process as responsible ATV riders should have a place to ride — but there should also be rules.
The only Bruce County property where ATV use is officially allowed is on sections of the rail trail.
But some municipalities have approved ATV use on some municipal roads and unopened road allowances.
