Tom Thomson is being celebrated in the Owen Sound area.
The famous Group of Seven artist is being remembered during the annual festival, which begins today until August 8th.
There are a number of events taking place including the Annual Country Market at the Historic Leith Church.
The Market takes place today from 11 AM – 7 PM.
Organizer Pete Telford says there will be Celtic food, local artists, artisans, authors and antiques for sale.
It’s the fifth year for the Market, and Telford says they try to bring in new people each time.
Also, Grandmothers to Grandmothers, the Stephen Lewis Foundation, will be there.
Later at night is the ceileidh which Telford says is the community’s biggest musical event of the year.
He says they have Scottish dancers, pipers and singers.
Telford says some of the money raised today will go into the maintenance of the historic church.
Admission to the church is free.
