Celebrations for the Lucknow Reunion have officially started.
There’s a variety of unusual and traditional events planned for this weekend.
Helicopter rides fall into the category of unusual attractions while the more traditional ones include dances, a fish fry and wing night, and numerous tournaments.
Event Co-chair Joan Chamney says as far as security concerns go…she’s not too worried because of the general good nature of the community, but does add not to drink and drive.
She was on stage last night for the traditional introduction of past ambassadors before judges prepared for ambassador contestants to give their speeches.
Chamney says the first competition dates all the way back to 1967.
She says the Reunion has attracted inquiries from Lucknow natives who live in places like Indiana and the Vancouver-area and says the event website has drawn hits from people as far away as China, Australia and Europe.
The Reunion wraps up with a fireworks display at Caledonia Park at dusk on Sunday evening.
