The head of Owen Sound’s DIA isn’t quite sure why Brockton is having second thoughts about installing surveillance cameras based on a visit to the Scenic City.
Brockton council says it doesn’t want to set up cameras in Walkerton’s downtown after seeing ‘problems’ with Owen Sound’s system.
Councillor Charlie Reidl said earlier this week… that vandals in Owen Sound were simply moving to blocks where the cameras weren’t present and to combat the problem…officials were going to have to purchase more cameras.
Owen Sound DIA Executive Director John Quinn says there are still only six cameras in the downtown.
He says there is money in this year’s budget for two more but as far as he knows there’s been no discussion by the DIA board about installing them.
In fact he says, he’s under the impression that vandalism and other incidents are actually down in the city.
