A new company is now operating out of Wiarton airport, “Bruce Peninsula Helicopters Limited”.
Pilot and President of the company George Burnside has been flying for nearly 3 decades and lives on the Bruce Peninsula.
It has taken him some 6 months to get all the approvals needed, but now the choppers are flying out of Wiarton on a daily basis.
Burnside offers 3 versions of flights over the Bruce, a 20 minute flight, a 40 minute flight or a 60 minute trip.
Prices are $199 for short flights, 399 for the 40 minutes in the air and 599 dollars for an hour.
Those prices are based on 400 pounds of passenger weight so it is usually split among 2 people.
Bruce Peninsula Helicopters held an Open House recently and Burnside says interest seems high.
He says they can fly during daylight so this time of the year they have about 14 hours a day to work with.
